Caitlyn here! Last week I spent some time in Indiana with Mrs. Muncy (who goes by mom to me) to get some final details done for booking travel and working on the puppets. It was a lot more work than we could’ve imagined to make puppets from scratch, which is the case for any new project, and we’re still finishing up some detail work, but Merlock is looking pretty cute if I do say so myself.

We’ll be starting a countdown pretty soon as we’ll be heading to the airport on the 7th of June! Once we leave we’ll be gone for around 6 weeks, traveling over every region of Japan possible, including Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa. While the actual episodes won’t be coming out for a while as we have to shoot and record everything before we can start editing it together, we’ll be uploading videos and making posts at the end of every week to recap where we are and what we’re doing.

There are going to be 16 episodes, and we worked on 7 songs! We’re doing our best to use American folk songs to teach about Japan so that kids will be familiar with the music, and when they come up, use the Japanese folk songs as naturally as possible, making sure to explain things along the way.
