Initiative is to take charge of a situation before being asked. Put the “I” in initiative – be creative and get it done! Sing along with the Professor and friends as they find projects to take on in their community. This can be used as a call and response song.

• MP3 of both vocals and instrumental
• Use this song as a call and response song – sing a line and have the children echo it.
• Learn some other echo songs such as “My Aunt Came Back”.  Work on vocal skills with your students.
• Brainstorm a list of things at school or in the community that could become a class or school project such as cleaning up a vacant lot, planting flowers, visiting elderly people at a nursing home – writing cards, sing songs. The list is endless!
• Ask your students to create a list of things at home or during the school day that they could take the initiative to do.
