Mrs. Muncy has secured yet another teaching grant, and this time it’s to go and study Japanese folk music in Japan! She and her daughter Caitlyn Muncy will be heading to Japan on June 7th, and will be staying there for six weeks until July 13th. It’s definitely an exciting time, and we want to make sure that all of you at home aren’t missing out!

This trip came about because Mrs. Muncy took a vested interest in Japan after her daughter Bethany Muncy moved there. In an effort to better understand the various aspects of Japan’s culture through music, Mrs. Muncy applied for and received a grant to study Japanese Folk Music. Her other daughter Caitlyn came up with the idea to use her mother’s background with puppets in the classroom to turn the trip into a full-scale production. Caitlyn has written short scripts that star Merlock the Mouse which will be filmed with puppets live on location in Japan that will teach the kids about the country’s culture and traditions through a combination of songs from Japanese folk music, and songs that Mrs. Muncy has written. We’re even getting some amazing musicians from a pool of Indiana talent to make the songs really amazing! All of the content is going to be posted online for free so that anyone can watch.
